It is understood that contributions and donations by outside organizations, once accepted by the Superintendent, become the property of the Guilford County Board of Education and are fully subject to applicable North Carolina statutes dealing with school property. The Board of Education does not assume any debts or liens attached to contributions to the school system.
The Guilford County Board of Education recognizes that within the community there are various agencies, organizations and individuals who wish to make contributions to the school district or to individual schools in the form of constructed items, materials, supplies, furniture, equipment, services. The Guilford County Board of Education shall not assume any financial obligation for payment for such items to include but not limited to constructed items, materials, supplies, furniture, equipment, services in the event that the agency, organization or individual is not able to make full payment for such items to include but not limited to constructed items, materials, supplies, furniture, equipment, services purchased.
Any agency, organization or individual wishing to make contributions must offer such contributions to school district personnel. Contributions for constructed items, furniture or equipment will be submitted to the Superintendent or his designee for action on behalf of the Board of Education. Approval by the Superintendent or his designee in no way obligates the Guilford County Board of Education to pay for donated constructed items, furniture or equipment in the event the outside agency, organization or individual is unable to meet its obligation. Principals and department heads are authorized to accept donated materials, supplies and services as long as donated materials, supplies and services are in the best interest of the students of Guilford County Schools.
Should an outside organization desire to donate cash toward a particular purchase, all Guilford County Board of Education policies and North Carolina state regulations shall be followed.
The Board shall only be responsible for purchases made in accordance with the North Carolina General Statutes and purchases made in accordance with the Guilford County Schools' purchasing policies and procedures.
